Together We Grow

Pupil Premium

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to the main school funding, is the most effective way to address the current underlying equalities between children who are eligible for free school meals (or who have been at any point in the last 6 years) and their non-eligible peers. It is the responsibility of schools to decide how this money is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision is needed to benefit individuals and groups of pupils.

At Merrow Junior School, we have high aspirations and ambitions for all our children and we believe that no child should be left behind. Our strategy is therefore to use this money effectively to diminish the difference in progress and attainment between these groups of children. We are determined to ensure that all our children are given every opportunity to realise their full potential and have high aspirations for themselves.

The ‘Pupil Premium Action Plan’ which is available on our website, sets out how the school has allocated the money for the next academic year, based on detailed analysis of children’s needs. This is to ensure that parents are fully informed about the objectives, rationale, allocation of spend and how the impact will be measured. At the end of each academic year the impact of the funding is reported in our ‘Pupil Premium Grant Report’ which is published on the website in July.
