At Merrow CE Infant School we aim to provide the highest quality of infant education through an outstanding teaching and learning environment and to develop lively, enquiring and investigative minds through an innovative, imaginative and fun curriculum.
Our school curriculum is broad, balanced, rich and vibrant and accessible for all children at school. Our curriculum delivers the requirements set out in the 2014 National Curriculum for Key Stage One (KS1) and the Early Years’ Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements for children in Reception. Our religious education curriculum delivers the requirements of the 2017-22 Surrey Agreed Syllabus. In addition, our curriculum is enriched by our school’s ethos, values and aims, resulting in a unique Merrow school curriculum which reflects young children’s interests and needs and is influenced by local factors such as our linked church St John’s, local traditions and village life.
Our school curriculum encompasses the EYFS Prime and Specific Areas of Learning and the KS1 core subjects of English, mathematics and science, combined with the foundation subjects of art, computing, design and technology, geography, history, music, personal social and health education and physical education.
Threaded through these subjects and part of all of them is the subject of spiritual, moral, social and cultural education, which is a significant contributor to Collective Worship. This school considers Religious Education as a core subject, which is taught in both EYFS and KS1.
